The LG G7 ThinQ seeks to stand out for sound and artificial intelligence

LG has unveiled its new mobile, the LG G7 ThinQ, in a simultaneous event in New York and Seoul

The new phone focuses on improvements by artificial intelligence that should make it easier to use

The LG G7 is already official after months of rumors and after having briefly leaked at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona. It has been presented in New York and Seoul in a simultaneous event and has artificial intelligence as its main asset, something similar to what Huawei and Samsung have done.

The LG G7 has the most advanced components and specifications available for Android phones right now:

  • Procesador Snapdragon 845
  • The option of 4GB and 6GB of RAM
  • The option of 64 and 128GB of storage
  • IP68 resistance to dust and water
  • 3,000mAh battery
  • Android 8.0 Oreo

Unlike the LG V30, which has an OLED screen, the LG G7 has opted for a more traditional LCD panel. Its resolution is rated QHD + (3120×1440), reaches 6.1 inches, has a format of 19.5: 9 and, yes, a notch on the top. This can be hidden by software.

LG has highlighted that the LG G7 screen is the first on the market to reach 1,000 nits, so it should look very good despite direct sunlight. At the same time, it reaches 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, so the reproduction of tones, in the absence of first-hand testing, should be quite accurate.

The smartest camera

It will have a double rear camera, a lens for standard photographs (F1.6) and another lens with a wide angle (F1.9), as it has been characteristic of mobile phones in the house. In turn, the LG G7 has an 8-megapixel front camera. It will also be possible to make portraits with the defocused background (bokeh effect), as has been the norm in most current devices.

Similarly, the LG G7 promises a performance in low light better than its predecessors, although to judge this we still have to test the mobile ourselves. According to the company, they have used an artificial intelligence algorithm to adapt the capture of images to this type of situation as best as possible.

The three cameras have received an artificial intelligence treatment that allows to automatically select up to 19 shooting modes and make automatic improvements in the final result of the image.

The most relevant use of artificial intelligence, however, seems to be in the software that controls the LG G7. The relationship with the Google Assistant has been improved with respect to previous versions (there is a dedicated button to activate it) and Google Lens has been integrated for the analysis of places and objects, although to know more details about this we must wait for the Google I / O that will take place in the coming weeks.

The sound, LG’s new obsession

The LG G7 will have a very advanced sound reproduction system and, on paper, ahead of the entire competition. It’s not just a matter of keeping the traditional headphone jack: it also includes an amplifier to improve the sound signal through it.

Its two stereo speakers for listening to music without headphones also seem very advanced: they are the first to offer 3D virtual sound using the DTS-X standard and can reach up to 7.1 channels through the headphone input.

The LG G7 will be available in four colors, gray, black, blue and pink and at the moment it does not have a launch date or a closed price in any market.
