Sheryn Regis: Biography and Lifestyle

Sheryn Regis, Full Name Sheryn Mae Poncardas Regis is a Filipino pop singer, occasional actress, and entrepreneur who was born on 26th November 1980 in Carcar, Cebu, Philippines to Father Bernardo Regis and Mother Daisy Regis. She rose to fame in the first season of the singing competition Search for the Star in a Million (formerly known as Star in a Million) where Sheryn Regis placed runner-up to Erik Santos in 2003.

Sheryn is the eldest of three children, with her brothers Elton and Joseph. Her mother guided her in singing, and when she was 2 years old, she was able to hum and sing simple tunes. Sheryn’s favorite and first contest piece was Kuh Ledesma’s “Dito Ba?” which she learned when she was 5 years old. When she was seven years old, she started joining local amateur singing contests. Sheryn Regis won her first big prize when she was eight years old after singing Tillie Moreno’s “Saan Ako Nagkamali”.

Sheryn Regis completed her degree in “B.S. Secondary Education” with a major subject in English at Cebu Normal University. In 1999, Sheryn was awarded as the “Best Interpreter” at the Cebu Metro Pop Music Festival, when she sang “Among Gabayan”, a Cebuano tribute song to Cebu’s patron Sto. Niño written by Fr. Jed Ponce Billones.

Sheryn Regis first appeared in TV running noontime show Sing-Eat of Eat Bulaga! in 2002 where Sheryn became a grand finalist. In 2003, She secured a place as a grand finalist in ABS-CBN’s television reality singing competition Star in a Million after advancing from the elimination rounds with Teresa Garcia.
