How to clear DNS cache on a computer?

DNS cache: Often, after making changes to the domain DNS record, for example, A-records, the old content is displayed in the browser. This happens for the following reasons:

  • The local cache of your PC still contains old data;
  • The cache of your ISP’s DNS server still contains old content.

You can clear the DNS cache on your PC in the following ways:

  • Perform cleaning in the browser with the CTRL + F5 or CTRL + R keyboard shortcut;
  • Open the command line in the PC ( Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Line ) and run the command:
ipconfig / flushdns

If after the above actions are still displayed the old content, in this case, it remains only to wait for the automatic updating of the cache at the provider. This process can take up to 72 hours and the specific time depends on the set TTL (Time to live) in the DNS zone of your domain, as well as the caching settings for the provider.
